Program Coordinator

Mr. Terry R. Matthews, M.S
trmatt@umd.edu Terry works with the WSA Advisory Committee to monitor individual projects and class projects and provide regular reports on the Steward’s progress to the Advisory Committee. He is the primary source to communicate with Stewards regarding classes, meetings, special events on regular basis, and to monitor stewards’ progress throughout the class schedule, providing support, consultation, and encouragement. Terry receives application forms, schedules interviews, and maintain records pertaining to Stewards Certification.
He is a 50-year veteran in the field of environmental services, with an emphasis on water and wastewater systems. Terry served as a member of the Board of Director’s for the Maryland Association of Municipal Wastewater Agencies (MAMWA) from 2007 – 2010. He served on the Watershed Implementation Plan Stakeholder Advisory Committee contributing toward the development of Maryland’s Watershed Implementation Phase I and Phase II Plans. He served as Chair of the Maryland State Water Quality Advisory Committee (SWQAC) from 2010 – 2014, a federally mandated public participation group that advises the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the Maryland Department of the Environment on issues pursuant to the technical, legislative, and practical implication of their work as it pertains to the safety and quality of Maryland’s natural resources. An experienced manager and trainer, Terry holds a Master’s Degree in Business Management, a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Behavior and an Associate of Applied Science in Occupational Safety and Health Technology.

Sign-ups for Neighborhood and Homeowner Interview and Assessments will return in the Spring.

Teachers can receive 5 MSDE credits for completing the WSA Certification.

WSA Partnership Engages Students in Environmental Stewardship --
WSA representatives will provide volunteers and support school efforts to apply for and maintain Green School designation. WSA will also offer professional learning sessions or consultations for teachers on storm water management and related topics.
