My backyard is getting water run off from my neighbors since my property sits at the bottom of the slope. I’ve lived in this property for almost 40 years but have recently experienced this issue over the last 7 years. We built a french drain but it has not helped. . We get flooded and water goes inside our basement when there’s heavy rain We were unable to use our backyard.
Please, any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!
Avelina Jose
PS: I planted a River Birch tree and about to plant another one. I’ve considered building a rain garden but don’t have the know how.
I hope you can help address this issue and restore my backyard.
Please return to fill out the request form after Saturday May 4th. We are doing our best to work through the many requests we currently have. It may be several weeks before we can meet with you. French drains are generally a bad idea because they are often poorly designed and fail after becoming clogged. We are not permitted to speak to your neighbors unless they make a request to us. Trees, especially those that do well in moist soil are a good idea as are rain gardens.
We are sorry to hear that you are having to deal with a failed French drain and highly recommend that you check at this location https://certified.cblpro.org/ for a certified landscaper in the future. In addition, you can learn a good deal about rain gardens from https://hcwsa.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Chap2RainscapingManualRainGardens.pdf
