WSA will have a table at the Long Reach Election Day event to talk about rain barrels (installation, maintenance, why they’re useful) with a demonstration barrel and to answer questions. It would be great to have volunteers to help Barb Schmeckpeper.

Rain Barrel Give-Away at Alpha Ridge

Help folks get their free rain barrels from Howard County. Those who have signed up online with the County get their barrels and help with first flush rainfall, especially helpful with our frequent thunderstorms.

We need a volunteer to help us answer questions about installing and maintaining a rain barrel.

Native Plant Palooza

Shop the annual, outdoor native plant sale! Select from a large variety of shrubs, wildflowers, ground covers, trees, and edible native plants.

Free guided native plant walks at 12:30pm & 2:30pm

In the event that our parking lot fills, we have secured off-site parking thanks to the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics lab at 11100 Johns Hopkins Road. To inquire about parking availability at the nature center before your arrival, please call 410-313-0400. We will be running shuttles to and from the off-site parking. Plant purchases will be moved with the assistance of volunteers to the Nature Center front circle, where guests may load their car after returning from off-site parking.

Oakland Mills Interfaith Green Team Spring Fling

Join the Oakland Mills Interfaith Green Team for environmental fun for the whole family! Registrants receive a free native plant on the day of the event. Other activities include a free rain barrel workshop, native planting and stormwater tours as well as an electric vehicle (EV) “frunkshow.”

The OMI Green Team will provide:

Free native perennial to all attendees
Free parking
Free admittance
